Terms of Service

Last updated: April 26, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Menuha mobile application ("App") operated by Menuha ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Description of Service

Menuha is a Shabbat observance tool that locks your Android device during Shabbat hours based on calculated zmanim (Jewish legal times) for your location. The App includes a countdown to candle lighting, observance tracking, Pre-Shabbat Reminders, and a Trusted Partner feature.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. By using Menuha, you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. Account & Subscription

Menuha offers a free grace period following your first completed Shabbat, after which a paid plan is required to continue use. We offer:

Purchases are processed through Google Play and RevenueCat. All fees are non-refundable except as required by applicable law or Google Play's refund policy. You may cancel an annual subscription at any time; access continues until the end of the current billing period.

4. Device Lock Feature

Menuha uses Android Device Administrator privileges and the display-over-apps permission to lock your device during Shabbat. You grant these permissions voluntarily. You may revoke Device Administrator access at any time through Android system settings, which will disable the lock feature.

Menuha is a software tool to support your personal observance. It is not a substitute for personal judgment, and we make no warranty that the lock will engage or release at precisely the correct halachic time in all circumstances. You remain responsible for your own observance decisions.

5. Zmanim Accuracy

Shabbat times are calculated using the Hebcal API based on your provided location and preferences. While we strive for accuracy, zmanim calculations may vary across halachic authorities. We recommend confirming times with your local rabbi or a trusted source, especially for candle lighting.

6. Trusted Partner Feature

The Trusted Partner feature allows a designated person to hold an override code that can unlock your device during Shabbat in emergencies. You are responsible for choosing a trustworthy partner and safeguarding the override code. Menuha is not liable for any misuse of override codes.

7. Prohibited Use

You agree not to:

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ZMANIM CALCULATIONS WILL BE ACCURATE FOR ALL LOCATIONS AND HALACHIC OPINIONS.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MENUHA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO INABILITY TO ACCESS YOUR DEVICE DURING A LOCK PERIOD.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Menuha harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to conflict of law principles.
